Ben Walters, Founder/Lead Pastor

Who are you? I am the husband of Leah and a daddy to my daughter Kendle. I am a follower of Jesus and self-confessed Bible nerd that enjoys reading and studying the overall story of God and mankind.

What’s your favorite part of the job? My favorite part of the job is the people I get to meet. People are a great example of God’s creativeness and I enjoy seeing God move through those people we get to do life with.

What do you like to do when you’re not working? When I’m not working I like to spend time with my family, watch Michigan football, go fishing and play basketball.

What’s your favorite snack? Hands down my favorite snack is any kind, flavor or shape of jerky.

Scott Kinney, Children’s Pastor

Who are you? My name is Scott Kinney, I was born and raised in Bloomsburg, Pa. I moved to Charleston in 1995 to open an Italian Ice and Coffee Shop with my cousin. I currently work full time at Carolina Lanterns and Lighting. I started volunteering in Children’s Ministry when I was 16 years old working with our churches VBS. I have over 14 years of full-time vocational children’s ministry experience. I met my beautiful wife, Meghan in 1998 during an Easter Production at the church we were attending. We married in 1999 and have four wonderful children; Tradd, Cooper, Coleman and Drayton.

What’s your favorite part of the job? I love teaching kids about how creative God is and how much He loves us. The best part is when the kids get it and their relationship with Christ becomes their own. My greatest accomplishment in ministry was spear-heading the Special Needs Ministry at my last church. The ministry regularly serves many families with special needs, as well as hosting the Luke 14/Night to Shine Prom each year. This is a special event for people of all ages with special needs and their families and caregivers.

What do you like to do when you’re not working? I love hanging out with family and friends, playing games, and watching movies. However, I am also a part of Thorn Production Tour Staff, traveling around the country combining my love of sharing the Gospel with my love of the theater. I love going into new cities, meeting new people and watching everyone come together to make the Gospel come alive and seeing people come into a relationship with Christ!

Victoria Malone, Worship Leader

Who are you?  I am a beloved daughter of the King of Glory, a mother to my amazing college-age son, Mason, and a daughter and sister of the Stewart Family (I’m the youngest of 6!) I am in love with Jesus and the redemption and transformation that He has brought to my life story, and long to share His story with others, in my everyday life as well as on the worship platform. In addition to serving at Boardwalk Church, I have a wonderful studio of piano, voice, acting and songwriting students that I dearly love!

What’s your favorite part of the job?  I have always been a singer, musician, songwriter, worshiper and teacher, and love to use the gifts and talents that God has blessed me with for His glory and the good of His people. I love encouraging others to use their gifts, and am excited about raising up a new generation of worshipers!  I love seeing people grow in their relationship with God through music, and watching this transformation as they become celebratory through their worship!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?  Because I love what I do, it consumes my life pretty much all the time, so it often feels more like creative fun than work (although God has been speaking to me recently about the importance of Sabbath! Still working on that!).  I love to read, binge watch an occasional wholesome Netflix show, and TRAVEL. I love having my son home from college and going on memory-making adventures with him.  It’s always great to get back to the mountains of NC to visit my family.

What’s your favorite snack?  I love fruit of all kinds, any time of the year.  I especially love berries and watermelon. So refreshing!  Of course, I have to have an occasional chocolate fix, with my favorite being Peanut M&Ms, as well as a crunchy/salty snack, so either chips and salsa or BBQ pork rinds!

Sound Technician,                       Zach McNamara

Who are you?  I’m the husband to my beautiful wife Chloe and dog dad to our puppy Willie. I’m a technology and history nerd with degrees in History and Theology. I’ve worked in various technology roles for over 10 years, including serving as a media director and an audio engineer at other ministries in the Carolinas.

What’s your favorite part of the job? Creating an atmosphere using audio, visuals, and lighting where people can freely worship and experience Jesus, and teaching others all that I can along the way.

What do you like to do when you’re not working? I love reading, running, exploring the low-country, and traveling with Chloe. I also enjoy my full-time job as the technology manager of a nationwide shared workspace company.

What’s your favorite snack? Pretzels with hummus for a snack; a box of Goobers for something sweet.
